COCO FAVRE

Hello, I'm Coco, singer, teacher, and founder of The Vocal Lab. What vocal aspirations would you like to achieve?

Whether it is singing with confidence, performing in front of an audience, understanding pitch and range, transitioning from classical to contemporary styles, or unlocking your unique vocal potential?

Would you like to overcome singing challenges, expand your vocal skills, or simply enjoy expressing yourself through song?

Whatever your goal, I'm here to guide and support you every step of the way.

A little bit about me:

Growing up in Switzerland, I began performing on stage at age 9, singing and dancing, and joined my first covers band aged 13.

As a Hip Hop dancer and vocalist, I toured Europe and North Africa with a Geneva-based dance company in my twenties. However, I quickly realised that raw talent wouldn't be enough to sustain my voice through intense rehearsals, performances, and recording sessions.

It wasn't until my twenties that I received my first formal singing lessons, but finding the right teacher who understood my vocal needs took years.

This sparked my passion for understanding the science behind singing, and I've since become dedicated to ongoing education. Over the past 30+ years, I've continued to expand my knowledge by attending workshops and conferences led by renowned voice specialists and singing professionals worldwide. My enthusiasm for vocal pedagogy has earned me the title of "voice nerd," but my commitment to sharing new discoveries with students is unwavering.

Notably, I've completed The LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework's™ three levels from 2021-2023 and graduated from Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin's Soul Ingredients® (a voice teaching method created for developing the voice while fostering personal style and soul expression) and Dr. Kozan's 3-day course on working with transgender and non-binary singers and speakers.

I am proud to be a registered member of NEWZATS, APRA/AMCOS, and the Somatic Voicework™ Teachers' Association, demonstrating my dedication to staying updated on best practices in vocal teaching.

My teaching experience

I have over 20 years of experience teaching singing and dancing, having instructed American Jazz and Hip Hop Dance to children and adults at a Wellington Dance School and providing vocal training at a private Wellington singing school for eight years before establishing my own studio in 2016.

My teaching approach is based on the principles of Somatic Voicework® - The LoVetri Method, with certification in all three levels.

I cater to diverse students, from beginners to professionals, including young enthusiasts, aspiring performers, adult hobbyists, choir members, and those transitioning from classical to Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM).

My specialty lies in helping students discover their unique voice, particularly those with low self-confidence or classically trained singers seeking a more natural approach to CCM.

Through my experience, I have found that I work most effectively with individuals who require confidence-building and those looking to transition from classical to contemporary styles.

A singing lesson with me goes beyond vocal training; it's about fostering a deep connection between your entire being, the music, and your inner self, transforming your performances from dull and unconvincing to authentic and captivating, allowing your audience to truly resonate with your message.

“Each lesson is flexible enough to give you what you really need at each particular stage of your training to ensure you get the most from each lesson at The Vocal Lab®”.
